Kim & Ashley-Philadelphia Proposal

Proposals have become one of my new favorite things to capture. This proposal between Ashley & Kim was so incredibly special and thought out. Ashley contacted me a couple months ago asking if I would be able to photograph her proposing to her girlfriend, Kim! The original plan was to do the proposal somewhere in Manayunk, but Ashley ended up finding this AMAZING hotel/restaurant that would be the perfect backdrop for the proposal.

We planned for weeks and finally the day had come. February 2nd. I met Ashley earlier in the day at Wm. Mulherin’s Sons to help set up the space, go over the plan once more, and to photograph the space before anyone came in. Ashley also had a bouquet made from Belovely Designs and it was absolutely perfect! Kim had no idea this was about to happen, she thought it was just a date night in the city at a fancy restaurant in Fishtown to continue celebrating her birthday which had happened a few days before.

Ashley then surprised Kim with a hotel room, and a little present for her to open up. The present contained a drawing made by artist, Megan Olsen, also known as Cartoonaday on instagram. The drawing was a cartoon of Ashley proposing to Kim right in the very spot they were standing in the hotel room! Of course, she said yes! Kim LOVES her engagement ring. I mean LOVES it. If there isn’t at least one instagram story a day showcasing it, then there’s a problem. Lauren of L.Priori Jewelry helped Ashley custom make a pear shaped champagne diamond ring that is just out of this world!

Kim was in total shock and had no idea any of this was going to happen. Kim had been following me on instagram and told Ashley how much she loved my work, it was so amazing to be able to capture this moment for the two of them! After the initial shock of what had just happened and Ashley and Kim took a moment to soak in the moment, I photographed them all snuggled up all around the hotel. I mean, the space was too beautiful to not have a mini photoshoot in!

My time was done and the two got to have a lovely dinner where Kim had another surprise of seeing the lovely bouquet at their dinner table while they had a romantic candle lit dinner as a newly engaged couple!! Thank you so so much to both Ashley for having me capture your proposal to Kim. You two are so sweet and kind! Can’t wait to plan your engagement session!!

Hope & Joe-Winter Engagement

Where do I begin with this session?! The beautiful lady in these images is one of my good friends and fellow wedding photographer Hope. She’s getting married to her man, Joe, in upstate New York this summer, and I had the privilege to take their engagement photos! I can’t wait for their wedding because it’s going to be my first wedding as an actual guest since I was a flower girl when I was like 8!

Hope had a vision when she asked me to do her engagement session. She wanted warm tones and a session full of adventure and uniqueness. She got her favorite ladies to do her hair and makeup, and one of her favorite florist friends to create a bouquet for the session. We walked through Tyler State Park at sunset and adventured to the dam down one of the paths.

We ended the outside portion of the session with some glowy golden sunset portraits of the two of them snuggled up. We all couldn’t feel our hands by the end of the session, but it was definitely worth freezing to get these shots!

The final portion of their session took place in my parent’s stone farmhouse. I’ve shot tons of boudoir sessions here, but never a couple. We headed up into the attic and I photographed the two of them with just the candlelight. These images are probably my favorite from the entire session. They’re so different and unique than any other engagement session I’ve done. I’m so happy Hope suggested to do some indoor shots because these definitely made their session so special!

Thank you so much Hope and Joe for trusting me with your vision! I can’t wait for your wedding day!! It’s going to be so magical!

Haley & Oliver- Art Museum Engagment

I’ve been slacking a bit on the blogging, but here’s a surprise Sunday blogpost! Haley and Oliver had their engagement session at The Philadelphia Museum of Art! It was so fun and unique and a great way to stay warm on this chilly December day!

We started out with some photos at Boathouse Row and then a few overlooking the city before heading in the museum. Haley studied Art History in college so she was 100% in her element when we walked in. We only had about 40 minutes to cover everything we wanted since the museum was closing. Haley killed it since she knows the museum like the back of her hand.

I loved shooting in the museum because it totally switched things up for me as a photographer! I’m so used to the outdoor, golden hour field sessions but this one was just so fun and different. Incorporating the museum’s architecture and of course, art, into the images made these images super architectural and interesting!

Thanks for looking! Check out more of my work here!
